Education at EHSSM

Where hands-on learning meets the real world.

We use shipbuilding, environmental science, and historic trades to help students explore engineering, ecology, design, and community connection. Our field-based programs are grounded in place, driven by curiosity, and tailored to meet learners where they are.

We Offer:

  • STEAM-aligned field trips for K–12 students

  • Station-based, interactive learning focused on science, history, engineering, and teamwork

  • Environmental education with topics like invasive species, marsh ecology, and climate adaptation

  • Internships in museum collections, archives, and hands-on preservation

  • Career exploration in traditional trades, museum work, and marine industries

  • Custom programs for homeschool groups, clubs, and alternative education settings

Our programs support curiosity, confidence, and collaboration. We’re proud to offer inclusive, place-based learning rooted in the Essex River, its culture, and its future.
