Walking directions to from 66 Main Street - SHIPYARD, to 28 Main Street - 1835 SCHOOLHOUSE, Essex MA

The museum occupies the former A.D. Story Shipyard, adjacent to the town’s Shipyard of 1668 and across a shared creek from the H.A. Burnham Shipyard. In use for shipbuilding since at least 1813, hundreds of vessels ranging from 10ft. skiffs to 175ft. steam trawlers have been built on and launched from this site by 3 generations of the Story family, along with many others.
